Mist that shrouds the sun
Leader of Fieldclan
Perhaps the Council was angry. Or maybe just the wind. The thought only briefly passed the snowy vixen's mind before flickering away before she could dwell on why. Mist was crouched just inside the apprentice's den, having just finished checking on rumored coughing which was fortunately nothing. For now.
Outside the wind was howling and the snow was falling hard, melting as it touched the fur of wandering foxes until it seeped into their skin. Already, even in shelter and dried off since she'd entered the den, Mist could still feel the chill biting at her furiously. However, she had a goal now. Get to her den.
Clutching the still warm rabbit at her side in her jaws, along with the tail of a mouse, Mist dipped her head to her clanmates, bunched he muscles, and dashed toward the tree, dodging around other foxes streaking to their own dens to hide as evening began to fall.
By the time Mist reached the base of the tree that marked her den, the prey still clutched tight in her jaws, the young vixen's fur was fluffed up as she shivered. Slipping beneath the roots into the tunnel below was a huge relief, an escape from the icy winds outside. However, it didn't make her any warmer.
Making her way into the main part of the den, Mist hesitated at the two tunnels branching of to the respective den's of her and Twilight, before shaking her head and dropping the rabbit. Carrying the mouse over to a bundle of fur nearby, she gently nudged the young warrior, listening to his breathing and touching her nose to his own nose and ears, before sighing with relief and dropping the mouse at his paws. Despite the weather, he was recovering well, and would return to his duties soon enough.
With her sick clanmate fed, and the rabbit still at her paws, Mist realised she'd reached a stalling point. She was still shivering, and she didn't doubt he was cold too but....with a decisive whisk of her tail, Mist scooped up the rabbit once more, and steered her paws toward the other tunnel, letting them carry her toward the nest of her fellow leader. She doubted he'd eaten yet. Or at least, she hoped he hadn't. She couldn't eat the whole rabbit herself anyway.
"Hey, I uh...brought us this to share," she offered, starting off with an awkward shuffle of her paws, before strengthening her voice and raising her chin as she nudged the rabbit forward with a paw. She was still shivering, but she didn't seem to notice that now.
